H1N1 Influenza Update
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has recommended that children and young adults aged 6 months through 24 years be vaccinated against 2009 H1N1 as soon as the vaccine is available.
The Monmouth County Regional Health Commission is working with school districts to hold school-based vaccination clinics in our local area soon. The most up-to-date H1N1 influenza information can be found at:
www.nj.gov/health/flu/h1n1 . This website includes information regarding where vaccination clinics will be held.
New Jersey is also operating a toll-free public information hotline on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. The information line number is 1-866-321-9571.
It is imperative that parents keep children who are sick home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever, after stopping fever reducing medications.
